How Full is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath Class 2-311

A  little boy named Felix learned from his grandfather that everyone has an invisible bucket. Felix finds out how being kind helps to fill his bucket and the bucket of his family and friends. I am glad that Felix’s grandfather taught him this lesson. He feels good when he does things to fill other people’s buckets and when they fill his. I am going to fill the buckets of others around me by being friendly and doing good deeds for others.

Let’s Learn about Insects!!!

Students and teachers from PS112M are collaborating with other schools from around the country. We are meeting new friends as we learn about insects. Please share where you are from and what grade participating students are in. Over the next few months we will all share photos, links to related websites, projects, art work, interesting facts through podcasts, movies, etc. This is so exciting!!!

Class 2-302 Botanist Fair

Teachers and parents were invited to Class 2-302′s Botanist Fair. It all started with an inquiry about Plants, what they are, where they come from and what we use them for. Students watched a video, picked a plant and wrote down their wonderings. They researched and gathered information about different kinds of plants including wheat, avocado, cactus, flowers from bulbs and other seeds, and many different kinds of strange plants such as the Venus Fly Trap. The students gathered information using different sources such as books and videos and through the Internet using iPhones, XO’s, computers and analyzed information using  the Smartboard. They learned many interesting facts about their plants and created posters and All about Books. It was a wonderful learning experience and we shared what we learned with other teachers and parents at the Botanist Fair. Wallace said “I was videotaping  what our parents and guests learned inside our classroom at the fair. Then we clicked a button to see the videos and clicked a button to stop it.”
